Here is this week's newsletter. Hope you all have a very good week.
May God continue to bless you.

1st Sunday of Advent.

Today we begin the great season of preparation for Christmas. The Liturgy of the Word is all about being prepared, so as we prepare for the festivities, the feasting and the fun, let's also prepare ourselves spiritually so that we can enjoy Christ's coming.

Why not try to set some time aside each day to be alone with God. Sit in silence, perhaps just for 15 minutes, and allow him to speak to you about what his presence in your life really means.

And have a very happy and blessed Advent season.

CHRIST THE KING

This Sunday is the last in the Church's year. Next Sunday we begin the great season of Advent.

Traditionally we pray for and celebrate the young people of our community, not the future of the Church, but it's present, as Pope Benedict reminded us when he visited Britain. May they be richly blessed and encouraged.

And may God continue to bless us all.

WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

This Sunday we remember all those who gave their lives in conflict and warfare across the ages.

May they Rest in Peace.

This week's newsletter.

This weekend we celebrate Home Mission Sunday.

We remember that the mission to spread the Good News is not about being a long way off, but right on our doorstep.

There will be a retiring collection for the work of the Home Mission Desk of the Bishop's Conference.

May God bless you and yours.

With all the excitement of the Pope's visit last week I forgot to post this week's newsletter! Sorry!

Here it is. Better late than never.

God bless.

This week we welcome Pope Benedict XIV to the United Kingdom. This is an historic visit which, we pray, will bring many blessings to our countries and a renewal of faith amongst all communities.

The Holy Father's coat of arms appears on the front of this week's newsletter. Why not spend some time, perhaps with your children, trying to work out what the various elements of the heraldry mean. (you can find a full explanation on the Vatican website!)

Have a great week!

We are considering re-ordering the Church of Our Lady and St Patrick in Teignmouth.

This document is designed to be a stimulus for the conversation we will all have in the coming months about how we use our church building and how it can be enhanced to enable us to continue to celebrate the liturgy with dignity and relevance.

Please do read it carefully so you can contribute to the conversation and consider downloading the documents from the Liturgy Office which are mentioned herein.

This weekend we have the Annual Appeal for the Catholic Children's Society (Plymouth). Please be generous in supporting their work with children and families in the Diocese.

Please also collect your free copy of the booklet produced by the Bishop's Conference of England and Wales and Scotland containing the liturgies and prayers which will be used during Pope Benedict's visit to the UK in September.

Have a good week. If you're going back to School, thank God for the holidays and have a great term (not long 'til Christmas!).

God bless you all.
